I moved to California back in May of 2015. Before moving to California I was pretty ill informed. I thought California led the way in Free Speech, The Green Movement, and cleanliness. Boy was I wrong. The University of California Berkeley was the leaders in the Free Speech Movement back in the 60's. Today they are leading the movement to suppress Free Speech that is of course unless you only believe the way that they believe. People are literally burning things in the streets of Berkeley, The police department has had to step back and let this go on. And I certainly understand why the police have back off because they would be blamed for increasing the violence and police brutality if someone was to break a nail. People are throwing rocks at the police that aren't even trying to break them up they are there just to help in case someone gets hurt. The police aren't even stepping in to try to keep people from destroying property.
I feel that the people of Berkeley only believe that Free Speech should only be available to the people that believe they way they do. And if they want you to have an opinion they will give it to you. I have news for the people of Berkeley "Free Speech is for everyone". You don't have a monopoly on Free Speech. Please allow everyone else the same right that you have. You are smart people but you don't have the right to suppress the rights of others. It appears that everything that people claim would happen if Trump was elected is being perpetrated by the very people who claims that their rights would be taken away instead they are taking away the rights of others. There Milo Yiannopoulos was scheduled to speak at Berkeley and the violence prevented him from speaking. But according to the left all violence is a direct result of citizens being able to own guns.
Understand this, violence to suppress someone's right to Free Speech is wrong. And that is what happened in Berkeley tonight. People of Berkeley should be ashamed of themselves. You are doing just the opposite of what you stood for so proudly back in the 60's. Why is it ok now to prevent someone from expressing their opinion but back then you would not have stood for it. You would have stood hand in hand to protect the rights of that individual to say what was on his mind. But not tonight you used violence and the threat of more violence to prevent him from speaking at all. I hope some day you are all able to see the irony in this situation.
I happen to be watching television tonight and all I can see is that this country is being divided by the left. Back at the end of President Bush's term Joe Biden gave a speech saying that the out going president should not appoint a new Chief Justice to the Supreme Court. However now all of the Democrats are saying the this seat on the bench was stolen by the Republicans. How is it ok for the democrats to demand that the out going President not appoint a justice to the Supreme Court and be outraged when the Republicans do the same thing.Unfortunately what I see happening right now is a Democratic National Party that is dead set against trying to work with this President and basically is working to doom the country to failure. When will we start to look at what this type of obstructionism is going to do to the country.
Before President Obama was elected I was afraid that if he was elect that some idiot would try to assassinate him. I was really expecting some redneck from white supremacist to try and take him out. I am very please that it did not come. I remember I told someone that I was afraid that it would happen then someone from Great Britain said the same thing. Again we are fortunate that it didn't come to pass. And even though I thought it might happen I never heard anyone say that it should happen. But in Seattle, WA tonight someone actually said that the white house must die. And a celebrity actually said to a crowd of people that she felt like blowing up the White House.
I have never in my life heard so many seemingly intelligent people say such stupid things before. Do you not know what would happen if someone did that. I have to say that President Donald Trump was not my first choice but he is my President and yours whether you like it or not. So as most people on the right did everything that you could do to work with President Obama the left needs to do the same thing. American can be great at it is going to take all of us working together. Violent protest are not acceptable means of voicing your opinion. Why is it that it is OK to destroy private or public property just because you don't agree with someone else's opinion? The answer is it is never OK.
I didn't even touch on the cleanliness or the green movement in California. Just suffice it to say that I was really disappointed when I first drove the freeways through San Jose and saw all of the trash that people just throw out their windows. That was so disappointing. And while hospitals in the area try to recycle some single use items they do very little to curb the rest of the carbon waste. They don't recycle aluminum cans or paper.
Oh Well that is my take on the events tonight. Please know one thing your opinion is welcome here even if it is different than mine. This is a place where you can feel free to express your opinion. Free Speech will be allowed by anyone that would like to use this forum to express those opinions. Thank you for reading this blog. I'll try to lighten it up a little from this point forward. Good night everyone.
